It’s closing day! Your final walk-through is complete, and now it is time to head to the title company to sign the paperwork and get the keys to your new home.
- What to Bring: Make sure to bring your valid driver’s license, your cashier’s check (if you haven’t wired funds), and a personal checkbook for any last-minute adjustments.
- The Signing Process: Prepare to sign plenty of documents. Once everything is finalized, you’ll receive copies of your paperwork and the keys to your new home!
- Homestead & Title Insurance: For primary residences, remember to file for homestead with your county. Keep an eye out for your owner’s title insurance policy in the mail a few months after closing and store it safely.
- Public Records & Scams: Mortgages and deeds are public records, so watch out for official-sounding junk mail asking you to pay for a copy of your deed. Reach out if you need to verify a letter’s authenticity.
- Home Warranty: If you purchased a home warranty, contact them directly for any service needs so they can send an approved vendor. Always feel free to reach out for assistance in navigating the process!

A Quick Note from the Hive: The roadmap above is a general overview of our proven buying process. Because every home, timeline, and market situation is entirely unique, the information provided here is for educational purposes only and does not constitute legal or financial advice, nor does reading it establish an official real estate agency relationship. Our signed clients receive fully customized timelines, proprietary staging advice, and detailed strategic guidance tailored to their exact property.
