SHOPPING & RESTAURANTS – This part of Bloomington has many highly-rated and iconic dining options. One standout is Ciao Bella, an Italian restaurant celebrated for its delicious pasta dishes and elegant ambiance. It’s a favorite among locals for its upscale dining experience and impeccable service.

For a more casual but equally beloved option, Wally’s Roast Beef is iconic in the community, known for its hearty sandwiches and classic comfort food. Additionally, Itton Ramen offers a fantastic Japanese dining experience with its highly-rated ramen dishes, making it a must-visit for noodle enthusiasts. These dining establishments greatly enhance the appeal of living in this vibrant neighborhood.

For shopping, residents have convenient access to Southtown Shopping Center, featuring major retailers like Target. Centennial Lakes and Southdale Center offer a variety of shops, dining options, and entertainment, providing a comprehensive shopping experience close to home.

TRANSPORTATION – This Bloomington neighborhood is ideal for convenient transportation and commuting. Situated near major highways like I-494 and I-35W, residents have easy access to the broader Twin Cities area. Public transportation options are readily available, with several bus routes nearby, making commuting to downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul efficient and hassle-free.

The close proximity to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport also adds to the convenience for frequent travelers. This prime location ensures smooth and efficient travel, whether for work or leisure, enhancing the overall appeal of this residence.

PARKS & NATURE – Welcome to a haven for outdoor enthusiasts! Northcrest Park is blocks away with its basketball court, playground, softball field, and tennis court. Embrace the beauty of nature and the thrill of outdoor activities right at your doorstep and visit Girard Lake and its wooded walking path, or Normandale Lake and its walking and biking trails.   Just up the road, the Centennial Lakes Park stands out with its 24-acre area featuring a picturesque lake, walking trails, mini-golf, and paddleboats, making it a perfect spot for leisure and recreation. The park’s well-maintained gardens and serene environment provide a wonderful place to relax and unwind.

Then there’s the Hyland Lake Park Reserve: With more than 1,000 acres of mature woodlands and a breathtaking prairie, it is hard to believe Hyland Lake Park Reserve is located in the heart of Bloomington. Six major bodies of water and several smaller ponds and wetlands provide extensive habitat for waterfowl. Wildlife found in the park reserve include prairie skinks, Cooper’s hawks, and other raptors, pileated woodpeckers, bluebirds, woodcocks, tiger salamanders, and common loons. This abundance of wildlife provides great opportunities for nature study, and the newly renovated Richardson Nature Center is a wonderful place to begin an exploration of the natural world.

The downhill ski area, with a terrain park, is popular for lessons and for its proximity to the metro area. On Hyland Lake at the playground, there is a chalet with a concessions stand and tables and chairs. During the winter, the chalet has cross-country ski rentals. The rest of the park reserve’s 1,000 acres (400 ha) contains nine miles (14 km) of paved biking/hiking trails and other unpaved hiking trails. In addition, the park features an 18-hole championship-level disc golf course playing along the ski slopes. The visitor’s center offers boat and kayak rentals for use on Hyland Lake. In the winter, seven miles (11 km) of cross-country ski trails are offered, and some trails are lit for evening use. Hyland Lake Park Reserve also hosts the Richardson Nature Center. The center offers live animal displays, interpretive nature programs, and winter snowshoe rentals. The creative play area in Hyland Lake Park Reserve features a wide variety of slides and other playground equipment. This playground is called “Chutes & Ladders” by Minnesotans because, just like the popular games, its massive playground is mostly ladders leading to chutes (slides).
